Sunday School We believe that both Sunday School and worship are important faith-building opportunities for children and their families. To support that belief, we strive to balance our Sunday School and worship choices. During the school year, we offer Sunday School classes concurrent with worship for preschoolers through 8th grade. On Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of each month) and during the summer, we intentionally do not offer Sunday School so that children and youth can worship with their families. Each week, regardless of the time of year, we always begin with families worshiping together. Children and youth may then leave the sanctuary following the Time with the Children to attend their Sunday School classes. Children may be picked up at their classes at 11:15, following the worship service.
Preschoolers: Using the Walk With Me curriculum published by Faith Alive, this age group focuses on major stories of the Bible through games and related crafts. Preschoolers meet in the nursery school classrooms.
Grades 1-6: Using Faith Alive's Kid Connection curriculum, we begin in our Tent Room (see map below) for songs and an interactive story-telling, and then move to classrooms for small group games and activities that reinforce the lesson. This age group is divided into two classes, grades 1-3 which meets in Room 209, and grades 4-6, which meets in Room 207.
Grades 7-8: Live B.I.G., from Abingdon Press, combines classroom activities and music videos to help tweens "hear, see, and live their Belief In God." At the end of each quarter, kids are allowed to take the B.I.G. music DVDs home to keep. We also occasionally insert one-week studies from The Thoughtful Christian on a current movie or song - always popular!
