History
In 1967, a group of young mothers at First Presbyterian Church of Farmington thought it a shame that the church's nice classrooms were used only on Sunday. They eventually decided to open a nursery school to serve all the children of the community, particularly those who might not otherwise be able to attend preschool. With the approval and financial support of the First Presbyterian Church, the women obtained state licensing and the Nursery School opened its doors in 1968. True to its mission as a community outreach program, the Nursery School offered (and continues to offer) scholarships to disadvantaged children.
Over the last 40 years, the Nursery School has taught nearly 2,000 children from all walks of life, from many faiths, and from different nations. To this day, the Nursery School continues its mission to serve this community and its children and remains a very popular choice for parents of preschoolers.
