Instrumental Ensemble

Instrumentalists of any age offer their gifts in our worship.

In recent years, we have been blessed by the talents of musicians on trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, French horn, tuba, clarinet, flute, recorder, and saxophone. If your instrument isn't listed, don't worry: we can always update our arrangements to include you, too!

When does the instrumental ensemble rehearse?
The ensemble rehearses twice each month from September through June, usually on every other Thursday.  Check the Sunday bulletin or this week for specific rehearsal dates and times.

How often does the ensemble play in worship?
We play during worship on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:00 service.  On select occasions throughout the year, we join with other ensembles to enrich our worship.

What musical background is necessary?
Students with a couple of years of instruction (starting about 7th or 8th grade) on up are welcomed into the ensemble.  Our director, Jerry Custer, adapts arrangements to feature each instrument at the level with which the instrumentalist is comfortable and successful.

Why join?
The main reason is that you get to use your musical gift in the worship of God, but there are also other benefits.  We have fun and the congregation loves it when we play.  It is also quite a blessing to be in this unique fellowship of intergenerational musicians as we foster each other in faith as well as in music.  Another neat thing --  Sometimes it is the child that leads us.
