Chancel Choir First rehearsal Thursday September 9 at 7:30 PM, and each Thursday thereafter. We welcome singers high school age and older and any music background. While we would love to have you sing with us all year long, it is also possible to join the choir for a church holiday season, such as Easter, Advent, or Christmas. (read more....)
  
Fall Fest is set for September 12th, after worship: Come one! Come all! Another First Farmington Fabulous Fall Fest will take place on September 12 immediately following worship. Join us for worship at 10:00 a.m. and stay for the festivities, games, and food. Dress casual for worship, because we will move outdoors after the service. Boy Scout Troop 179 will serve picnic food and the Parish Life Committee will supply the side dishes. There will also be watermelon, ice cream, and cotton candy to enjoy, along with bingo, monkey bridge, face painting, dunk tank, cake walk, kids activities, an organ grinderand a classic car show. There will be live music by the Urban Yahoos with our own Dave Martyn. Be sure to bring your family, friends, neighbors and grandchildren to church with you.
 
Prayer Shawl Ministry resumes, Monday September 13th, at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor, continues at 9:30 in the parlor on  the third Monday of each month.
 
Christian Yoga Series beginning September 13th Monday evenings in Knox Hall 6:30 – 7:30 PM  You’re invited to join us for the first time – or rejoin if we haven’t seen you in a while. In every class, you’ll learn to care for the temple God has given you by: increasing flexibility, balance, circulation and strength ~and~ decreasing stress, body weight and blood pressure. Daily devotional readings ensure new inspiration at every class.
Each 6-week series is only $52. Try your first class for free! To save your place, please enroll in advance at soulstretch.org or by calling 248-429-YOGA by September 13th. All levels, from absolute beginner, to experienced yoga practitioners are invited. Please plan to bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable, stretchy clothing.
 
Middler and Senior High Youth Cedar Point Trip   Saturday, September 18th,  8:45 a.m. to midnight Cedar Point trip (ride the rails at night too!) cost: $30 Parent drivers needed, gas and parking reimbursed, chaperone admission is $15; we will eat lunch outside of Cedar Point before we arrive. We need 15 people plus drivers to make this trip happen. Mrs. Hemmye needs your $30 by the first day of school, September 7th.
 
Sunday School for kids begins September 19th at 10:00 am!  Meet your teachers, meet your friends, and meet Jesus through stories, crafts, songs, and games each Sunday during worship. Begin by worshiping with your family, then leave for Sunday School following the Time with the Children. Preschoolers can be picked up after worship in the preschool rooms (down the hall across from the sanctuary), and grades 1-8 meet in the upstairs classrooms. There is no Sunday School on the first Sunday of every month, so parents and children can worship and share communion together.
 
Adult Education Hour Restarts September 19th at 9:00 am!  We offer two adult ed groups for you to join on any given Sunday. The Present Word Presbyterian Bible study, led by Jerry and Eileen Jurek, meets upstairs in the library, and just down the hall in the parlor is Living in our World, facilitated by Sharon and Karl Cressman. Both offer thoughtful conversation and calls to live out a life of faith. All are invited to share faith and friendship any Sunday at 9:00.
 
Blood Drive Monday, September 20th, 1 - 7 pm By spending one hour of your time to donate blood, you could help save the life of someone’s parent, someone’s child, or someone’s friend. Please note – new time, and new web site. The hours will be from 1 – 7 on Monday the 20th. To schedule an appointment go to www.redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code fpfh.
 
Informational  Meeting for Confirmation 2011 Sunday, September 26th, immediately following worship If you are the parent of a youth who will be entering 8th or 9th grade this fall, now is the time to talk to him or her about being confirmed in our church next year. Confirmation is begins this fall and continues throughout the year. It is an opportunity for youth to confirm the baptismal vows made for him or her as a baby or young child, and also an opportunity to explore their own faith and state their own beliefs. If yourchild has not yet been baptized, baptism then becomes part of the confirmation process. If you are interested, please plan to attend this informational meeting.

Performing Arts Concert: Paul Keller Jazz Quartet  Sunday, September 26th, at 4 pm:  with Swingin’ The Praise, a unique program that features jazz, gospel spirituals and beloved hymns in an afternoon of music guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, uplift your spirit, and set your toes tapping!  No tickets required; donatation suggested. 
 
Infinite Variety Club – Wednesday, September 29th, 12 noon The Infinite Variety Club will begin its fall season with lunch at the Rainbow Restaurant (Chinese) in the Crossroads Shopping Center at the corner of Farmington and Nine Mile roads. Please call your reservations to the church office at (248) 474-6170 by noon on Friday, September 24. Lunch will be at 12:00 noon. Anyone needing a ride should meet at the church at 11:30. IVC is open to all senior citizens. Join us for our lunches and programs.
 
Infinite Variety Club – Wednesday, October 27th at 12 noon in Knox Fellowship Hall  Buzz Brown will speak on “Michigan’s Future—from the Perspective of Our Past.” IVC is open to all senior citizens. Join us for our lunches and programs.
