In our community

And the king will answer them, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.'   Matthew 25:40

Volunteers from First Presbyterian Church of Farmington regularly support a variety of Detroit-Metro Missions. Explore them and find a place for your gifts and talents.

Rebuilding Together The Rebuilding Together-Oakland County work day is always the last Saturday in April.  Close to 500 people participate in the Farmington-Farmington Hills work day including almost 50 people from our congregation.

Prayer Shawl MinistryMembers of our congregation participate in this ministry by knitting prayer shawls for those in need.  As the shawls are knit, prayers are offered for the future recipient and shawls are dedicated before being presented to a person in medical or other need.

St. Alexander's Food Pantry:  Members collect non-perishable food items for St. Alexander to use in its food distributions to area residents.

More hands-on mission opportunities
Local and national opportunities are also available through the Hands-On-Mission work group of Detroit Presbytery or our own Adult Mission Group.

Women in our church, with the help of Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of Detroit, also support various area service projects with their time, talent, financial contributions and sweat! These include Alternatives for Girls, Sweet Dreamzzz, Presbytery of Detroit's Hunger Program, and the Second Mile Center[Read more about our women's missions initiatives...]

Supported Missions:  Our Community and World Outreach Committee is responsible for our church's outreach to the community and to the world, planning our church's involvement in meeting outreach needs and distributing funds from both the budget and special offerings.  Through this committee, our church sponsors over 35 outreach programs throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. In addition to the programs above which receive both hands-on and financial assistance, we financially support programs such as The Barnabas Youth Program , PATH(Lighthouse), Habitat for Humanity, Samaritan Counseling Center, Neighborhood House, Focus Hope, and Goodfelllows.  Read the committee's 2009 annual report to see a full list of the missions we support.
