Adult Mission Group

Get Involved in Hands-On Outreach!

The Adult Mission Group seeks out places where their team can make a difference. They have repaired houses, renovated community centers, re-habbed a boy's camp and built a yurt.  (Ask them; they'd love to explain.)  They work hard, pray hard and play hard and are basically a lot of fun to be around.  They are very dedicated to providing service to others with their time, talent, and labor. Opportunities range from partial-day Saturday to week-long commitments.  All adults are invited to join.

Their message: "We very much wish to share the joy of the adult mission group's outreach ministry with you and the experience of always getting back from each project tenfold of what you have given. Please join us to learn more and to have all of your questions answered. All adults are encouraged to join the fun and planning for projects and trips. Our meetings are held Monday evenings at 7:30pm."

2009/2010 projects:

Annual one week mission trip July 25-31, 2010 --  Mingo County, West Virginia, working to help those devastated by floods and poverty.   A typical day begins with breakfast, proceeds to the work site and finishes by 5 pm.  After dinner there is a devotion hour to sing, share, and pray.  Please consider joining in for a fun rewarding week of service to others. Contact us for more information.

Grace Centers of Hope, Pontiac MI -  worked with members of the Senior High Youth group using materials donated by First Presbyterian Church of Farmington to help build a deck and paint porches.

Buckhorn Camp, Chesterville, OH  This is a rehabilitation camp for older boys. For many of the boys this is a last chance to turn their life around.  After traveling to Ohio and checking into a motel, the group built two brick fireplaces and painted a barn, showers and benches.  They sawed 6X6s and bolted a canoe rack and held daily devotions in the evening with a special one-night joint devotion with the boys of the camp.

Barnabas Opportunities Youth Center, Detroit, MI  This Saturday project was spent building a sub-floor in the center's wood shop with Senior High youth joining us. We got a start on laying the tile down. The Center will finish tile with their youth as a learning project, but we'll be back to take on new projects and needs.

The Women's Shelter of Flint, Flint MI  A shared project with First Presbyterian of Fenton, MI.

The Howell Nature Center,Howell MI.  This Saturday in April focuses on assisting in preparations for the summer season.
