Gleaners Community Food Bank

Nourishing communities by feeding hungry people...

What is Gleaners?
One of the oldest food banks in the U.S., Gleaners turns surplus food that would otherwise go to waste into millions of nutritious meals for hungry people in southeastern Michigan.  At their center in downtown Detroit, food donations are repackaged and distributed to other outreach programs.

Who can help?
Anyone capable of packing, generally upper elementary aged (with parent) and up.

When does First Presbyterian help?
We send volunteers on the first Saturday of February, April, June, August, October, and December. Volunteers meet at the church at 8 am to carpool and return by noon.
